PIPEDA Compliance
Our commitment to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
Last updated: April 2026
Sonder Meraki Inc., operating as GTA Permits, is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s federal private sector privacy law. This page outlines how we apply PIPEDA’s ten fair information principles to our business practices.
1. Accountability
GTA Permits is responsible for all personal information under our control. We have designated our principal contact as the individual accountable for PIPEDA compliance. Any privacy concerns or requests can be directed to info@gtapermits.ca. We are responsible for personal information transferred to third-party service providers and require those providers to maintain equivalent privacy protections.
2. Identifying Purposes
We identify the purposes for which personal information is collected before or at the time of collection. Information submitted through our contact form is collected for the purpose of responding to project enquiries, providing quotes, and managing client relationships. We do not use your information for any purpose other than those identified at the time of collection without your consent.
3. Consent
By submitting our contact form, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions, by contacting us at info@gtapermits.ca. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide services to you.
4. Limiting Collection
We collect only the personal information necessary for the identified purposes. Our contact form requests your name, email address, phone number, municipality, project type, and project description — the minimum information needed to assess your project and respond meaningfully to your enquiry.
5. Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
Personal information is used only for the purposes for which it was collected. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purpose. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to keep personal information accurate, complete, and up to date. If you believe the information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us at info@gtapermits.ca and we will correct it promptly.
7. Safeguards
We protect personal information with security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These include:
- Secure email transmission using encrypted protocols
- Access controls limiting who can view client information
- Use of reputable, security-certified third-party platforms for any data storage
- Regular review of our data handling practices
8. Openness
We make information about our privacy policies and practices readily available. Our full Privacy Policy is available at gtapermits.ca/privacy-policy. If you have questions about how we handle personal information, contact us at info@gtapermits.ca.
9. Individual Access
Upon written request, we will inform you of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information, and give you access to that information. To submit an access request, email info@gtapermits.ca with “Privacy Access Request” in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days. In some cases, we may not be able to provide access — for example, if doing so would reveal confidential business information or information about other individuals. We will explain the reason for any refusal.
10. Challenging Compliance
If you believe GTA Permits has not complied with PIPEDA or this policy, you may challenge our compliance by contacting us directly at info@gtapermits.ca. We will investigate and respond to all complaints. If your concern is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada:
